(COHORT 1 - CLASSES BEGIN AUGUST, 2026)
Trauma is a significant yet often misunderstood factor affecting individuals, families, and communities across the African diaspora. While trauma can result from personal experiences, it is also influenced by broader historical, cultural, social, and systemic factors that continue to shape the lives of Black and African people today.
This course provides a deeper exploration of trauma through a Black and African-centered lens, helping participants understand how trauma develops, how it is expressed, and how it continues to influence individuals, families, and communities.
This comprehensive 10-hour Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training has been developed using evidence-informed trauma principles, culturally responsive practices, and real-world insights from work within Black and African communities. The training integrates contemporary understandings of trauma, transgenerational trauma, mental health, family systems, resilience, and trauma-informed care.
Participants who successfully complete the training receive a Certificate of Completion and formal CPD recognition.
