Estimate and track your logistics expenses with the cost-to-transport model
Businesses conducting distribution operations across Nigeria understand the high level of cost variability arising from loading and delivering goods across multiple destination cities. And to ensure operational profitability, a clear sense of what costs are incurred for each potential business route is required.
The cost-to-transport model is a working tool to support the estimation of transport costs involved per business route across 16 major cities in Nigeria. It allows the user to select an Origin city ("From") and a Destination city ("To"), and with the relevant assumptions on diesel cost, vehicle fuel consumption (estimated in km/l), driver wage, derive the total cost per trip.
How to use the tool:
1. Open the Cost-to-Transport Excel tool
2. Click on the Cost to Transport worksheet
3. Update the 5 assumptions to reflect your business market and/or operational realities
4. Select the 'From' city from the dropdown list
5. Select the 'To' city from the dropdown list
6. The cost per trip is automatically computed and returned in the large blue box at the right of the tool view.
