“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” — Hebrews 11:6 (KJV)

God does not merely respond to prayers or cries; He responds to the honour we give Him. And note this: your worship is not limited to singing praises or dancing. Your worship is expressed in the honour you give to God.

Even when you pray, there can be honour for God in your prayer. Even when you cry, there can be honour for God in your cry. Faith in your prayers is what makes your prayer an act of worship.

When you come to God believing that He is powerful, that He is able to do what you are asking, and that He is a living Saviour who will not abandon His children, you honour Him because you have acknowledged who He truly is.

But when you come to Him in prayer merely to “check whether He will do it or not,” your mindset can dishonour Him. You are approaching Him as though He were an unpredictable or unreliable God. And if you do not honour Him in your heart, you cannot expect your request to honour Him either.

Faith helps you honour God. When you come to Him with confidence in who He is, and His name remains in your heart as you ask, He will glorify Himself.

Nevertheless, God may sometimes allow a season of testing before the answer comes. He may use the waiting period to reveal what is truly in your heart and to strengthen your faith. It may initially look as though He is not going to answer, but the test is not necessarily a denial. It can be a process of building you into a person who is firmly established in what you believe.

Consider Abraham. God promised him generations through his son, yet the fulfilment of the promise was delayed. When Isaac was finally given, God later instructed Abraham to offer him. Abraham's faith was tested, and through that process, his trust in God became even stronger.

Abraham believed God, and God did not fail him. In the end, God was glorified, and Abraham became stronger in faith.

If you understand the principles that guide a walk with God in faith, you will develop the confidence to trust Him even when answers seem delayed. God is not tired of answering prayers; He desires faith that honours His name.
