Why does it matter?

In Nigeria today, superstition is so rife you can cut it with a knife. Coming from a Scientific background, I always believe that there are explanations for things if only we can be patient enough to dig them. Writing this Screenplay is me digging deep.

Synopsis:

Ugoo is a young, educated construction worker striving tooth and nail to make ends meet and take care of his family. He lives in a dilapidated house which he managed to build. This house needs to be renovated, if not demolished and be built afresh, but, there’s no money. He asks his friends to lend him some, but none has. They all point him in the direction of Pii, a thug cum Money Lender. Ugoo refuses to go to him. Coming back one day from work, he finds his roof off and has no option than to go.

He goes and Pii gives him the money: N600,000 only that he has to pay double when repaying in six months. He uses the money to renovate his house and take one or two bottles at the end of each day’s work. Some of his kinsmen who are envious of him become his enemies. It’s time to pay but Ugoo has no money. Pii’s people warn him. He goes to tell them he can’t make the deadline and they beat him up. He thinks of what to do. Nothing comes to mind. Pii’s people are still after his life. He remembers

Farida, his old flame. He meets her. She accepts to give him the money if he will continue where they stopped. Ugoo refuses. Pii’s people continue to harass him.

With no other option, he goes to Farida and they begin where they stopped. Farida gives him the money. He pays Pii. Beluebelu, Pii's archenemy and rival and his men collect the money. Pii thinks Ugoo is in on it and instructs his guys to monitor him and eliminate him. They find a connection between Ugoo and Beluebelu. To do the needful, they are interrupted by Kingdom, Farida’s bodyguard. But, they nevertheless fire a shot at Ugoo. Beluebelu’s connection tells him that his friend Ugoo has some money which, except for a bit of withdrawals, will be up to 2 million. Ugoo had let that out while he was drunk. Beluebelu tells him to keep an eye on him. Ugoo dies. Beluebelu tells his Connection to keep an eye on the wife. Ugoo is buried. Erimma, Ugoo's wife goes through his personal effects and finds a doctor’s appointment. On her way to the hospital. Pii's men kidnap her kids and orders her to come. Beluebelu’s connection alerts Beluebelu that Erimma has been taken by Pii's men. Thinking they are after the same thing, Beluebelu and his men go after her. Erimma reaches and is taken hostage. They give her a phone to call someone for ransom. She calls Farida. Farida calls her Husband, a highly placed Policeman. The Police come for rescue. Before they could reach, there’s a shootout between Pii’s men and Beluebelu’s men and they all die. The Police rescue Erimma and her boys. Erimma meets the Doctor and finds out that Ugoo had a heart problem. And he died as a result of it.
