There is something that we can all learn from life experiences once we interpret them through the lens of faith. Some lessons are painful, and some are painless, but none of them are pointless. Dr. EBIDENYEFA TARILA-NIKADE has brilliantly written this remarkable piece, “Ayaemi’s Bliss...” to help us retell our stories so that we can reframe our lives.

The letter we write to ourselves about life expectations will either tell of past experiences or determine the future.

So Jude lost Her to another. His regret for not being the one by her side and the father of her children was most unfortunate. The belief in names and their meanings: Ayaemi believed her other name brought her ill luck.

Ayaemi found love in another. Not to think that this is the story of too many people out there. “I am tempted to describe Ibiwalatei as every woman's dream man. But, no, he was created, born and fashioned to specification just for me because everything about him fitted perfectly into the missing pieces of our puzzled lives.

Life being full of uncertainties, ups, and downs does not explain how far one would go to find the “right one”. Relationships require tolerance to get to that destination called marriage. When you love unconditionally and without fear, that love is sure to stand the test of time. Ayaemi showed consistency in her love.

Finally, Dr. Ebi wrote this piece without any sentiments. According to a recent Forbes article, “The single biggest predictor for all these [life] events is not the facts of your situation, but the story you tell.”

Psychologist Kelly McGonigal has observed that “small shifts in mindset can trigger a cascade of changes so profound that they test the limits if what seems possible.” This is what we see in Ayaemi.
