Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.” 2 John 9. KJV.

Anyone who goes on and does not keep to the teaching of Christ has not God: he who keeps to the teaching has the Father and the Son. BBE.

This means that he who abides not in the doctrine which Christ taught, or the true doctrine respecting him, has not the Father and the Son. The truth therefore must be held respecting the precepts, the character, and the work of the Savior.

It is therefore not enough to just preach and teach about the work or miracles that Jesus performed, that alone will not cause you to be fully united with the both the Father and the son. The Lord's ultimate goal for the Church is found in his prayers for his disciples in John 17:20-26. … I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one… This is a Perfect unity with the Father and the son.
