THE DANGER OF KEEPING SILENT

Silence is often regarded as a virtue. There are moments when wisdom requires us to be quiet, listen, and reflect. Yet there are also moments when silence becomes dangerous—when keeping quiet in the face of evil, injustice, sin, or divine assignment allows darkness to prevail.

Throughout Scripture, God repeatedly called His people to be voices of truth in a world filled with deception. The prophets spoke when nations strayed. John the Baptist spoke when morality was compromised. The apostles spoke when threatened. Above all, our Lord Jesus Christ spoke the words of life despite opposition and persecution.

The danger of keeping silent is not merely the loss of an opportunity; it can result in the loss of destinies, the triumph of wickedness, and the neglect of God's purpose. Silence can become a form of consent when truth is being suppressed. It can become a barrier to healing when wrongs remain unaddressed. It can become an obstacle to salvation when believers fail to share the Gospel with a dying world.
