What if the problem was never that you desired too much but that your desires were pointed in the wrong direction?

Every human heart longs for something. We crave success, possessions, relationships, recognition, love, and a sense of significance. Scripture is clear: covetousness is sin. Yet in the same breath, we're told to "covet earnestly the best gifts" (1 Corinthians 12:31). So which is it? Is desire itself the enemy, or is it what we do with that desire that determines whether it leads us toward God or away from Him?

In Coveted, minister and author Blessing Bassey takes readers on an honest, Spirit-led journey into the roots of covetousness exposing how it hides in plain sight within ambition, comparison, relationships, appearance, and even ministry itself. Drawing from personal testimony, everyday observation, and deep scriptural insight, Bassey reveals a truth many believers have never considered: desire can be redirected, not just suppressed.

Through candid stories and biblical teaching, this book walks readers through:

What covetousness really is and the subtle ways it shows up in ambition, relationships, appearance, background, and even our walk with God
Why willpower alone isn't the answer and the practical, spiritual steps to breaking free from any habit that has taken hold
How to desire the source, not just the outcome learning to covet wisdom, discipline, and character instead of the wealth, fame, or applause that follows them
The fruit of the Spirit as replacement, not just restraint a fresh framework for exchanging every wrong craving (anger, pride, lust, envy) for its Godly counterpart (temperance, meekness, contentment, love)
The gifts of the Holy Spirit understanding and earnestly desiring the spiritual gifts God intends for every believer

Part confession, part biblical study, part practical guide, Coveted doesn't call you to a life of suppressed longing. It calls you to a transformed one where the same passion that once pulled you toward comparison, greed, or dissatisfaction becomes fuel for pursuing what is good, eternal, and pleasing to God.

Whether you're wrestling with an unhealthy craving, chasing after someone else's life, or simply longing for deeper contentment and purpose, this book will challenge you to ask a different question not "How do I want less?" but "How do I want rightly?"

A transformed life begins with transformed desires.
