Most businesses don't die because the idea was bad. They die because the money was spent before the demand was proved.

If you've ever had a business idea you believed in; and quietly wondered whether people would actually pay for it, this playbook was written for you.

It won't hand you a business to copy. It hands you something more useful: a way to look at your own market, spot real opportunity, and prove it cheaply before you commit serious money.

Here's what most people do. They get excited, register the business, buy stock, rent a space, tell family and friends; and only then find out whether customers will pay. That's not ambition. That's guessing with your savings.

Here's what this playbook does instead. It walks you through a simple sequence you can actually finish: find the problem worth solving, talk to the right people, test whether they'll pay, check the money properly, and only then decide how much to commit.

What you'll be able to do after reading

• See the difference between a real problem and a passing trend

• Map the value chain in your sector and find where the money actually sits

• Run customer conversations that produce evidence, not compliments

• Use the PAY TO TEST method to find out whether people will pay before you produce anything

• Do a proper Money Test: gross profit, contribution, cash timing and a downside check

• Score an opportunity on 10 factors instead of relying on gut feeling

• Make a clear offer and find customers respectfully, without begging for sales

• Run a 7-day test, then a 30-day challenge to deepen what you've learned

• Know exactly what to check before you invest a single naira more

Built for African markets, not borrowed from somewhere else

Written from a Nigeria-to-Rwanda perspective, this playbook treats Africa as many markets, not one. Purchasing power, informal trade, logistics, trust, payment behaviour and regulation are treated as real conditions to work with and not footnotes.

The financial example runs on naira, so the maths finally looks like your reality: a ₦20,000 sale, ₦12,000 direct cost, ₦8,000 gross profit, ₦5,000 contribution — and what that means for how many sales you actually need.

Inside the book

• 10 short chapters, written to be read in an evening and used for months

• 8 printable workbook tools, including the One-Page Opportunity Canvas, the Customer Conversation Record, the Money Test, the Test Plan & Evidence Log, the 30-Day Challenge and the Pre-Investment Gate

• A 7-day plan that gets you out of your head and in front of real customers

• Clean, designed layout with space to write in

What this playbook is not

It's not a get-rich-quick promise, a list of business ideas, or a guarantee that any venture will work. Some businesses take longer than 30 days to prove — seasonal trade, regulated services, long procurement cycles. This is a thinking and testing system that makes your decisions sharper. What you do with it is yours.

A word from the author

"I've always been fascinated by one question: where is the opportunity? Not simply where the money is, or which business is trending — where is there a real problem, a customer who cares, and a realistic way to create value? Moving from Nigeria to Rwanda changed the way I look at business. This book is not a promise that I have every answer. It is an invitation to ask better questions — and to let evidence improve your decisions."— Obi of Africa
