There are two things I wish someone had told me before I started working.

The first one I learned the hard way, multiple times.

I was in school, working as a welfare administrator. Then admin and operations. I was young, eager, and thought I was doing well. Until I kept getting called out. Not for being lazy or not caring. But for assuming.

I would assume something was confirmed when it wasn't. I would assume someone had been informed when they hadn't. And every time, it caused a delay. Every time, I was the one standing there trying to explain myself while people waited on what I should have delivered.

Nobody sat me down before that job and said — "In a professional environment, assumptions are expensive. Confirm everything."

I had to learn it by getting it wrong. Repeatedly. In front of people.

I eventually got it. I moved forward.

Then came my first job after service.

I showed up over hours early on day one. Five hours. Because I am that person. I wanted to do everything right. So I sat there waiting, ready and prepared. My boss came in much later.

There was no clear orientation. No "welcome, here's how we do things." He sat with me, gave his expectations — which were real and high — and that was it. It wasn't warm. It wasn't the "you'll learn a lot here, just put in the work" that I didn't even know I needed to hear until I didn't hear it.

I went home that evening and I cried.

Not because the job was bad. Not because my boss was a monster. But because nobody had told me that work could feel like that. That you could do everything right, show up early, show up ready, show up with everything you had, and still leave feeling completely alone and overwhelmed.

By day two I was in a panic. I almost didn't go back.

I did go back. I learned. I grew. But I carried that confusion and that loneliness longer than I should have, because I had no guide. No framework. No honest voice that said "this is normal, here's how you handle it."

That's why I wrote this handbook.

The Workplace Survival Handbook is the conversation I needed before I started.

It is not a motivational book or some generic career advice written by someone who has never struggled. The handbook is thirty pages of honest, practical guidance written from real experience — for the young professional who is showing up every day and still wondering why nobody prepared them for this.

Inside you will find:

- How the workplace actually works — the unwritten rules that nobody puts in your offer letter. What really gets rewarded. Who actually makes decisions. Why working hard sometimes still leaves you invisible and what to do about it.

- How to communicate in a way that builds trust — being clear, being timely, confirming instead of assuming. The communication habits that protect your reputation before it costs you.

- How to hold your confidence even when you're still figuring it out — because confidence isn't about having all the answers. It's about knowing your value while you find them.

- How to set boundaries without burning relationships — how to say no, protect your energy, and still be the person people respect and want to work with.

- How to spot red flags before they drain you — toxic managers, difficult colleagues, cultures that will swallow you whole if you're not paying attention.

- How to handle the hard moments without losing yourself — the mistakes, the confusion, the days you want to walk out. Real situation and real responses.

- How to think beyond your current role — because where you are right now is not where your story ends. And what you do in this season matters more than you think.

Thirty pages in one sitting. Practical enough to use on a Monday morning.

Honest enough to feel like it was written specifically for you.

Because in many ways, it was.

This is for you if:

• You're fresh out of NYSC and your first real job already has you questioning everything.

• You've been working one, two, three years and something still feels off but you can't name it.

• You've ever been called out at work and didn't fully understand why.

• You've ever shown up fully prepared and still felt completely lost.

• You've ever gone home after a workday and cried and felt alone in that.

• You've ever wished there was just one honest person who could tell you how this all actually works.

---

This is not for you if you want quick fixes, motivational quotes, or someone to tell you everything is fine.

This is for the person who wants the truth — and the tools to do something with it.
