The Eleventh Commandment

“Thou shalt not be caught.”

Owoicho “Owie” Ojobo is every parent’s dream and every student’s envy—brilliant, disciplined, and the revered Senior Prefect of St. Martin’s College. But behind the neat uniform and shining prefect’s badge lies a teenager under pressure—pressure to be perfect, to meet expectations, and to never falter.

When one impulsive act of violence shatters his spotless record, Owie is stripped of his power, pride, and place in the student hierarchy. What follows is a gripping journey of shame, self-discovery, and a search for redemption. As he navigates the rigid codes of boarding school life, the sting of lost love, and the weight of his own mistakes, Owie must learn that true greatness is not about never falling—but about rising each time we do.

Set in the heart of a Nigerian Catholic boarding school, The Eleventh Commandment is a powerful coming-of-age story filled with vivid characters, humour, and life lessons. It explores the invisible rules that govern adolescence, the pain of growing up, and the resilience it takes to rise after a fall.

Recommended by the Benue State Ministry of Education as a supplementary Literature text for senior secondary students, this novel is a must-read for teenagers, parents, teachers, and anyone who’s ever struggled to find their place in a world full of expectations.

“A powerful read for students, parents, teachers, and lovers of Nigerian literature.”
