'This & That' is a collection of original works, all written with the sole intent of eliciting positive thinking and reasoning from everyday occurrences. The goal is to re-present incidents in such a way that wisdom can be derived even from mundane situations. Wisdom from traffic, a bout of malaria and the accompanying intake of Quinine; inspiration from a woman and her high heels, lessons from a pot of beans and the accompanying repercussions of greed and excessiveness, life lessons in financial management through the borrowing of a bowl of cassava flakes (garri). While majority of the stories are literal, the accompanying nuggets are far from. They present perspectives that are somewhat obvious yet hidden or perhaps ignored. Some may be unpopular, those are the ones that call for deeper reflection and soul-searching. How do you inspire courage amid hopelessness? How do you portray hope when there seems to be none in the horizon? How do you hint at financial responsibility and accountability in an environment where more premium is placed upon the container as against the content? 'This & That' seeks to proffer some simple, straightforward and concise perspectives to some of these common, yet all-important questions in a manner that is easily relatable. It is a combination of allegories, humor, sarcasm and a twist of poetry, speaking to individuals, communicators, communities and sundry. You will laugh, ponder, relate, but ultimately reflect about life and the things we hold dear in it. It will inspire you.
