Selar Is Putting ₦10 Million Behind 150 Nigerian Students. Here’s Why

At Selar, we’ve always believed that the best product we can build isn’t just a platform; it’s a future where young Nigerians have real, legitimate pathways to success.

That belief is what drives the Smart Hustle Initiative. And today, we’re announcing its biggest edition yet.

What We’re Doing

For the third year running, Selar is funding students at critical points in their academic journey. This year, we’re committing ₦10,000,000 to support 150 students across Nigeria — and for the first time, we’re opening the fund to both secondary school and university/polytechnic students.

Here’s the breakdown:

  • 50 final-year university and polytechnic students will each receive ₦100,000
  • 100 SS3 students preparing for WAEC and JAMB will each receive ₦50,000

Applications open February 24th and close March 13, 2026.

Why We’re Doing This

School fees in Nigeria have increased by over 200% in recent years. For many families, staying in school has become a genuine financial struggle; one that pushes some students to drop out, and in many cases, toward fraud as a perceived shortcut.

The Smart Hustle Initiative is our response to that reality. We don’t believe the fight against fraud starts with punishment. It starts with opportunity.

As our CEO Douglas Kendyson puts it:

“Hopelessness is very dangerous for parents and students alike. If this fund can give hope for them to keep their head up, it would be money well spent.”

Who Can Apply

University/Polytechnic Students:

  • Final-year student at an accredited Nigerian tertiary institution
  • Minimum CGPA of 3.0 or 65% cumulative grade

  • Video application

All applications are reviewed by an independent selection committee.

This Is Just the Beginning

The Smart Hustle Initiative is a movement. Beyond financial support, we’re building toward nationwide campaigns, community engagement programs, and partnerships that connect young Nigerians to digital skills and legitimate income opportunities.

We’re also looking for volunteers. If you believe in what we’re building, join us here.

If you’re a student who qualifies, don’t wait.
